5th Grade Event Celebrations

Monday May 20th: The students will enjoy a picnic lunch in the school courtyard with an exciting afternoon filled with games, socializing, and a special surprise for all participants. Students can look forward to enjoying the sunny weather while indulging in a delicious sub sandwich and bag of chips, or they're welcome to bring their own packed lunch for a personalized touch to the festivities.

Tuesday May 21st:   No School Today

Wednesday May 22nd: After specials, students will receive their yearbooks and have the chance to collect signatures from friends in all fifth grade classes. After lunch on Wednesday, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a frozen treat with their friends with extra time to socialize before recess.

Thursday May 23rd: On the final day of their fifth grade year, students will be able to truly celebrate together at the end of the year celebration.  Make sure to wear your 5th grade t-shirt, as there will be markers on hand to get signatures from friends and teachers.  Music, games, pizza and a few fun surprises await.

FAQ

Can parents attend events?

The celebratory events for students are scheduled during the school day.  At this time there are no events that are open to parent visitors.  However, we encourage all parents to volunteer during the last week of school!

When should my student wear their 5th Grade T-Shirt?

Please make sure your student wears their 5th grade t-shirt on the last day of school, Thursday May 23rd.  Students will be given the opportunity to write on each other's shirts with Sharpies on the last day.  Please make sure your student dresses accordingly.

Is there a 5th Grade "Dance"?

A lot of our students refer to the last day of school as a dance.  There has never been a formal 5th grade dance (dress clothes, etc.), but the end of year party on Thursday May 23rd is an event with music, food, games, and tons of free social time for the kids.  There will definitely be dancing in the school gym!  But no, this is not a "Dance" in the formal sense.

How do I volunteer?

A link to a volunteer sign-up will be sent to all 5th grade parents in the coming weeks.  You can sign up to volunteer during any available spot.  We ask that parents not sign up for multiple events in order to allow everyone a chance to participate in the fun.  All volunteers are required to complete the Fulton County Volunteer Registration: https://www.fultonschools.org/volunteer

Can I attend the "Senior Walk"?

The Senior Walk is an event held at Cogburn Woods for students graduating from High School that attended Cogburn Woods during their time as an elementary student.  This event is not open to the public, including 5th grade parents.

Where can I find information about the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony?

The ceremony is hosted by Cogburn Woods, not the PTO.  Details and plans around the ceremony are done by the CWE Staff and Administration.  All details will be communicated to parents in the Cougar Chronicle.  Questions about the Promotion ceremony can be directed to the CWE Front Office.

Who can attend the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony?

This event is held outside of school hours.  Attendance is open to all family and siblings of CWE 5th grade students.  However, seating is limited.

We will be out of town during these events, can any celebrations be held earlier in May?

No, while we are sorry that your student will miss out, the 5th grade celebration dates are final and cannot be changed.  Purchased yearbooks can be picked up at the CWE Front Office during the summer on certain days.  Call the school for exact dates and times.
